These instructions will show you how to install your HandyCards
software onto your PalmOS handheld. Before you begin
the installation, please ensure all programs are closed on both your
desktop and handheld computers. Also, ensure your handheld
computer is turned on and is connected to your desktop computer.
After you have downloaded the
HCPalm.zip compressed file to your Windows PC, place it in its own
directory and decompress it with your favorite software, such as
WinZip or 7Zip .
After you have extracted the contents of the HCPalm.zip file and
opened the directory with Windows Explorer, you'll see something
like the image shown below:
To install
HandyCards, you must HotSync NSBSystemLib.prc and NSBVFSLib.prc and one of the two runtime
files into main memory on your Palm. If
you are using a device running PalmOS v4.x
or older, install NSBRuntime.prc into main memory. If you have a
PalmOS v5.x or newer device use the NSBRuntimeARM68K.prc file.
HandyCards itself
(HandyCards.prc) and the included sample data file, HCSamples5.pdb,
can be placed in main memory or onto an expansion card. If you use a card reader to put files onto your
expansion card instead of the HotSync process, be sure to put the
files into "PALM | Launcher", otherwise you may run into erratic
behavior.
Once you have HotSync'd
and installed HandyCards, you will see the new HandyCards icon on
your PalmOS handheld. This indicates the completion of the installation of HandyCards
onto your Palm. Please contact Open Window
Software support should
you encounter any installation issues.
Be sure to look over the
Palm Studying with HandyCards instructions prior to using HandyCards.
