Clicking Options brings up the tabbed Options dialog that contains the panels listed below.  The Options menu item is only enabled when a study file is open. Follow the links at the start of the description of each panel for a more detailed discussion of the options contained on that panel.

Colors/Fonts/Kbds controls the independent background colors of the Main Window, the Question dialog, the Answer dialog and the Introduction.  It also controls the default fonts used for the Question and, independently, the Answer. The program's menu and dialog font can also be set. In Scholar and Educator you can perform batch operations on fonts across all pairs in the study file. You can choose which of these three fonts is used for the text added by the program in various displays - e.g. auto-generated answers. The fill-in-the-blank edit boxes also use the appropriate font, matching the upcoming Answer. This tab also controls whether or not color-coding is used in the Q and A dialog status bars. Finally, in Educator, you can select which foreign language keyboard mapping is automatically used for the Questions and other edit areas that use the Question font and another for the Answers and other edit areas that use the Answer font.

Directories controls where WinFlash's dialog boxes initially "point" when they are opened and where WinFlash will automatically look for associated files. A path for the default text editor and default graphics editor can also be set in this panel.

Misc/Audio covers a variety of options pertaining to Case Checking, Order Checking, Clearing of FIB Answer on Retry, Randomization of Multiple Choice Answers, Automatic Continuation If Answer Correct, Confirm Delete and Allow Multiple Program Instances. This panel also controls the choice of bitmaps to use in indicating Correct and Incorrect answers as well as Enable and AutoPlay options for audio/video, Enable Links in RTF Files and the Cheers and Jeers controls. The display and behavior of the Study Time Statistics are also controlled on this panel.

Pair Order/Size allows you to select the ordering of the Q&A pairs to be chosen from the overall file for the upcoming study session.  The Range settings can be used to select subsets for study based on the pairs' number, Leitner Box value or category. The panel also contains the Q&A pair size limit and the GoTo Continuation Mode settings. A Mode-Specific Settings button mirrors the one on the Q&A Modes panel, since these settings are often changed after making changes on the Pair Order & Size panel.

Q&A Modes allows you to chose one of WinFlash's five primary modes to use in learning the material: Ask All Questions Equally Often, Frequency Based On Priority List, Frequency Based On Range , Frequency Based On History. and Leitner Box System. The two unscored modes, Browse and Fast Timed, are also available. This panel also contains the Settings Common To All Modes panel which controls the A First, Followed By Q, Display Answer After __ Seconds,  Run Minimized, Automatic MC, Automatic FIB, Automatic Spelling, Show FIB as Standard, Include Disabled Pairs, Multi-user Mode, Allow Pairs To Be Skipped and Resume Previous Session on Opening Study File options.

Speech (shown in Educator only) allows you to select and test the Question voice and Answer voice for use with Text-To-Speech (TTS) from the available voices and make adjustments to the pitch, speed and volume used. TTS can also be enabled independently for the Question, Answer, Hints and Comments and the Introduction voice can be set to use either the Question or Answer voice. When both SAPI4 and SAPI5 speech systems are installed, you can select which of the two to use.

View covers Auto-Pilot, Skins, Q&A Window Size and Location, Keep Question Visible, Increase FIB Box Height Proportionately to Q Dialog Height, Text Centering, Graphics Scaling and Question Only Mode. Default text order can be set for Q and A independently for use with right-to-left languages. Hints, Comments, Graphics and Tips Enable and Disable Comment If Answer Is Correct options as well as the default graphics to be used for text-only Q's and A's are also located on this panel.

This pushbutton closes the Options dialog, ignoring any changes that were made while in the dialog except Q&A Mode's Re-enable All Pairs In This File which takes effect as soon as the pushbutton is pressed.
